Staff
The St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf - Kansas City program is
staffed by teaching professionals who are certified as teachers
of the deaf and trained in the auditory-oral approach. Staff speech-language
pathologists are ASHA certified with a concentration in auditory-oral
methodology.
The SJI-KC campus is directed by Ruth F. Mathers, a teacher of
the deaf with 25 years experience in developing spoken language
skills in children with hearing loss. Mathers holds a master of
education of the deaf degree from Washington University/Central
Institute for the Deaf Teacher Education program.
