Early Intervention - Kansas City

The goal of the Early Intervention Program is two-fold: (1) for children with hearing loss identified under the age of thirty-six months to develop speech, language, listening, and cognitive skills comparable to hearing peers, (2) to empower families to work with and advocate for their children with hearing loss.
It is especially important to stimulate developing neural systems with sound and language as soon as possible to lay the foundation for future language development. Specially trained speech-language pathologists and teachers of the deaf provide individual sessions for children birth through age three and their families one or two times a week.
Children ages twenty months to thirty-six months are eligible for placement in our integrated toddler classroom or parent playgroup. While families continue to meet for private sessions, the toddler class and parent playgroup allow children to receive intensive language stimulation through play in natural, small group settings.
