Summer Session
St. Joseph Institute - Indianapolis offers three weeks of half-day
summer camp programming for deaf/hard-of-hearing children ages three
to six. Research has shown that a prolonged gap in services (such
as the traditional summer break in the school calendar) can result
in serious regression in language progress for children with significant
hearing loss. Summer camp is staffed by our own experienced teachers
and speech language pathologists. Rather than addressing oral communication
through structured, academic school activities, summer camp promotes
spoken language development in a more relaxed environment through
theme-based play activities and field trips. Summer programming
is included in tuition for preschool and kindergarten students.
Other students including those who will be transitioning to the
program in the fall, may attend at a very competitive rate.
