“The
I
Hear program has empowered me with strategies
to teach my son language and to listen. It has given me hope and lead me to
embrace his hearing impairment.
I
Hear Therapy continues to renew my strength
to advocate for my son to have him reach his full potential. Communicating
with my son with words is priceless. Knowing he can talk and listen by seeing
his progress and seeing what others have done thru SJID encourages me greatly.
I am very thankful and feel very blessed to participate in this program. It
has made all the difference. We started the program on Sept 18 with Auston
only giving one word utterances to now he is speaking four to five word
sentences and actually communicating with us and his playmates. It brings
tears of joy and relief. We have a long way to go but SJID has given us a road
to get there.”

town

What is I
Hear?
I Hear
is an innovative program designed to bring listening and spoken language therapy
services to families and children regardless of where they live or go to school.
For many parents of children with hearing loss, these specialized therapy
services are often not accessible due to distance or lack of qualified
professionals in their community. I Hear
bridges the sound barrier to link families and therapists for live, interactive
therapy sessions. Therapists identify practical activities to use at home to
continue the learning process. |
|
 |
I Hear
services are provided through a high quality audio-visual connection and take
place at designated times convenient to each child. The program is easy to
access and use. High-speed DSL or broadband internet connections are required.
Families owning a suitable computer will receive software and support necessary
to establish tele-conference links. If no computer is available, families may
elect to participate in our "Computer Loaner Club." |
